Overview

247 Labs built a stress-tracking companion for physicians in the toughest phase of their careers

Residency is one of the most demanding phases in medicine — long shifts, high stakes, and little time left over to look after the person delivering the care. Resident Doctors Canada, the organization representing resident physicians, wanted to change how its members understand and manage that pressure.

247 Labs built a React Native mobile app that lets resident doctors track their stress, access mental health resources, and stay connected to wellness programs — a practical well-being companion designed around the realities of medical training rather than bolted on to it.

The Challenge

Generic wellness tools ignored the rhythms of residency

Resident Doctors Canada needed a mobile solution to help resident doctors manage stress and monitor their well-being through intensive training periods. The tools that existed weren’t built for this audience: generic wellness apps ignored the rhythms of residency, and existing support resources weren’t comprehensive enough to meet residents’ unique needs.

The organization needed one app that could combine self-monitoring, credible mental health resources, and its own wellness initiatives — and actually earn a place on the phone of someone working hospital hours.

The Solution

A single React Native app that turns burnout into something visible and actionable

247 Labs developed a mobile app, built with React Native for iOS and Android, that puts stress management in residents’ hands. Doctors can track their stress levels over time, turning a vague sense of burnout into something visible and measurable.

Alongside tracking, the app provides direct access to mental health resources and sends notifications with stress-management tips — small, timely nudges rather than another obligation. It also integrates with Resident Doctors Canada’s wellness programs, so residents can join initiatives aimed at improving their mental health from the same app they open every day.
